WHEN A FILTER BECOMES BEAUTY: HOW RESEARCH OPENS UP NEW PERSPECTIVES FOR ARCHITECTURE AND DESIGN

Filtering capacity combined with lightness and beauty. SAATI fabrics act as filters due to the absolute precision of their different sized mesh openings, with a percentage of free surface that varies between 29% and 50% and a thickness that ranges from 100 to 1000 microns. Their appearance is comparable to that of a metal mesh, but their weight is 5 times lower: this distinctive lightness opens up new, previously unthinkable perspectives for architecture and design. Our fabrics are laminated between two sheets of glass, becoming an integral part of partition walls, sliding doors, shop windows and façades. In this way, aluminium, stainless steel, titanium, copper and bronze can be used as delicate cladding, which, when permeated by solid light, transforms into metallic reflections, creating continuity of space in the surrounding environment.
